Improved Markets, Stronger Communities: Reflecting on the Annual Seed and Food Fairs
This past week, the SFHC team facilitated various seed and food fairs throughout the northern region in Edundu, Enukweni, and Rumphi. These fairs, hosted under Harness Farms, provide an opportunity for farmers to showcase the harvests they have achieved through agroecological methods to a regional market.
The vibrant displays of seeds reflected the growth of more equitable and resilient food systems. Not only this, the fairs also offered a valuable space for farmers and community members to exchange knowledge and discuss approaches to sustainable agriculture that improve food security and support small-scale producers.
Across the three locations, over 300 farmers attended the fairs, offering dozens of products ranging from vegetables and legumes, to cooked foods and processed spreads. Representatives from SFHC, Biovision, BCI, and Slow Food were also in attendance in support of the commitment to advancing agroecology and community food systems.

This is great work!
